Tour Operator Website Redesign with PMS Integration
This project involved the redesign of a tour operator website and integration with PMS for automated availability, pricing, and bookings. The mockups show the updated interface: a light blue palette with orange CTA buttons, large tour selection forms, a grid of destinations with photos, package tables, and multilingual support.
Client Request
The existing tour operator website did not meet the expectations of B2C customers and agency networks: outdated UI, complex navigation, fragmented availability data, and manual booking confirmations. The main goal was to turn the website into a conversion-driven sales channel and connect it with “live” data from PMS. Key requirements:
- modern interface focusing on quick tour selection and clear pricing;
- powerful search form (departure city, dates, duration, meal plan, budget, star rating, type of trip);
- destination catalog in a grid with cards and preview photos;
- package tables with instant booking options;
- multilingual and multi-currency support;
- PMS integration to synchronize availability, prices, and bookings;
- SEO preparation and fast mobile loading.
Project Goals
- redesign user flows and simplify the booking process;
- create a visually light, “touristic” UI highlighting CTAs;
- implement search and filtering across multiple parameters without overloading the screen;
- develop responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile;
- ensure reliable integration with PMS and providers (API, webhooks);
- support multi-currency and tax calculation;
- prepare technical SEO (URL structure, schema markup, meta templates);
- embed analytics goals: card click, filtering, add to booking, payment.
Solution
UX Audit and New Architecture
Analyzed old funnels and click maps. Removed unnecessary steps, introduced a unified step-by-step scenario: search → select offer → package details → passengers & contacts → payment/invoice. Top navigation simplified: “Tours,” “Destinations,” “Special Offers,” “Payment & Delivery,” “Contacts.” Quick access to language and currency in the header.
Design and Visual Language
Soft blue tones evoke sea and travel, orange buttons highlight key actions (find tour, book, submit request). Main page features a large search form with hints, a grid of destination cards, and contrast tables for tour listings: filters on the left, results on the right.
Search and Filtering
Flexible selection form includes departure city, dates, nights, traveler composition, budget, meal plan, hotel category, tour type (beach, excursion, ski, city-break), visa, installment options. Results update instantly via AJAX; mobile filters slide out from a panel.
Destination and Package Pages
- Destination page: season description, trip types, “Best in May/June” selections, FAQ block, dynamic offer feed.
- Package card: hotel photos, rating, meals, dates, duration, flight, transfer, insurance, final price, and CTA “Book Now.” Expandable sections: cancellation, visa info, notes.
B2C and B2B Dashboards
Traveler dashboard: order history, vouchers, status, online payments, print documents, support. Agency dashboard: client bookings, invoicing, reporting, quotas, and special rates per agreements.
PMS Integration
The project core is a reliable website-PMS connection. REST/JSON endpoints and secure webhooks were used. Key integrations:
- ARI synchronization: automatic import of Availability, Rates, Inventory on schedule and event-based (push). Real-time pricing and stock updates.
- Online booking: creating bookings in PMS with assigned numbers, status feedback (hold/confirmed), quota blocking, payment and cancellation rules.
- Documents: voucher/invoice generation, tourist data transfer, itinerary export.
- Multi-currency: site-side conversion with fixed booking currency, commissions, and VAT/City Tax handling.
- Reliability & security: retry mechanisms, logging, task queues, degradation mode (cached pricing if PMS unavailable).
Payment Scenarios
Supports partial prepayment, full card payment, corporate invoices, hold bookings up to N hours. 3-D Secure, refunds, and partial refunds implemented.
